me
hi! i’m geminiicat
(but my friends call me isa)
I’ve always known I wanted to be an artist…throughout my entire life, I’ve explored an array of creative mediums: music, drawing, dance, pottery, etc. Writing has always been second nature to me, whether it was emotionally journaling or narratively; but I wanted more. To my seven-year-old self, it felt like an eternity spent searching for what truly fulfilled me — until the day I was gifted a camera.
One thing about me: I’ve always been a storyteller.
I was born and raised in Miami, but am now based in Orlando, working toward my film degree at the University of Central Florida. Writing has been my constant — screenplays, poems, prose — storytelling is at the core of who I am. Alongside writing, I’m also deeply involved in visual media, with strong skills in camera work for both photo and video, as well as editing. My style of creating has always gone deeper than what meets the ear and the eye. In terms of writing, I establish characters that reflect parts of the human experience that viewers may not even realize they have within them. I’ve written and directed several short films, my first being Inflammation, which was selected into the Oscar-qualifying deadCenter Film Festival, and earned national recognition by several others. Every project I take on is a reflection of my passion for bringing stories to life in every form possible.
“I think if you start taking it too seriously, which I’m, like, sometimes definitely in danger of doing… then it gets ugly."
